Ukulele |
With extensive study of traditional Spanish guitar and ukulele going back to when Mr. Cyran was himself a middle school student, Kea'au Middle School students learn to play chord accompaniment for the Hawaiian songs learned in class. He teaches ukulele using the traditional technique from the Iberian peninsula of Europe (Spain and Portugal) dating back hundreds of years, and then brought to the African island of Madeira before arriving in Hawai'i in the late 1870's.
